As the seasons change, we observe the wonderful nature around the Barn. This creates the foundation of our Seasonal Nature Sessions.
Wild About Insects
Half Day session £500
Ecologist Dave Miller will lead an exploratory walk around the fields and hedgerows at the Barn to discover insects, using identification sheets, sweep nets and magnifying glasses.
Creative activity- Bug hotels
Foraging for Food
Half Day session £500
Ecologist and artist led session. The woods and hedgerows are full of food to eat. Gather berries and wild garlic depending on the season and learn about what is safe to eat and what is not.
Creative activity- Puppet making and printing with leaves and berries.
Grassland Flowers
Half Day session £500
The Barn has 30 acres of naturalized grassland wildflowers that support millions of insects as well as rare wildflowers. Ecologist Dave Miller will take the children on a magical journey of discovery to find out more about grassland flowers using our senses of smell, sight, and touch. We will learn about their medicinal properties and their importance in creating biodiversity
Creative activity- Clay leaves and wildflower grassland crowns.
Mighty Moths
Half Day Session £500
Ecologist led session. Using our own moth trap we will find out more about these fantastic insects, their life cycle, habitats, what they eat, and how to identify them.

Rockpooling at Hawthorne Hive
Half-day session £500
Ecologist led session. Find out more about our amazing coast and its importance as carbon capture. Identify sea creatures and seaweeds living in the shallows and the importance of protecting our coastal marine habitats
Activity- Land art and a scavenger hunt.
Wild About The Woods
Half-day session £500
Ecologist led session. Learn how to identify trees and work out how old they are. Find out how trees have influenced how we live and how they communicate with each other.
Activity collecting leaves to make Green man clay head and tree crowns.
